Port Discovery

When you are looking for things to do in Baltimore that will keep the adults interested just as much as the kids, Port Discovery is the place to go. This interactive children’s museum has permanent exhibits including Adventure Expedition which takes through an obstacle course based in 1920’s Egypt where they must decipher hieroglyphics to lead them to the pharaoh’s tomb. The museum also hosts overnight visits for parents and children when visitors can have free run of Port Discovery’s exhibits.

National Aquarium

This place is considered to be the best aquarium in all of the United States. The Baltimore National Aquarium has everything from rare Australian wildlife to endangered bird species, a reptile sanctuary, and, of course, loads of multi colored fish as well as dolphins and otters.  Kids can join in with feeding time at the aquarium and can learn something new from educational tours. The aquarium’s 4D Theater takes you right to the centre of the underwater action, immersed in all the sights and sounds of the sea.

Urban Pirates

Make like a king of the seas with Urban Pirates’ family adventure trips. Kids can don a headscarf and eye patch and jump aboard the pirate galleon for a fun packed day out. The crew on board the pirate ship will teach you how to talk, sing and dance like a pirate. If you and your little ones prefer to stick to the shore, Urban Pirates hold free story time twice a week on the near by pier. If they misbehave, they might have to walk the plank.

Maryland Science Center   

With a Planetarium, an IMAX, and permanent exhibitions on things like dinosaurs, the universe, the body, and space, Maryland Science Centre mixes up education with fun perfectly. For older kids and adults, the planetarium hosts laser concerts; expect to see laser shows based on things like Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, and a 52 minute spectacular laser show to the theme tune of Led Zeppelin’s greatest hits.  Definitely one of the best things to do in Baltimore than adults can enjoy just as much as children.

Maryland Zoo

As a top choice for things to do in Baltimore that can take up a full day and get the whole family out into the open air, you don’t get a much better choice than Maryland Zoo.
